This project is my favourite. «Час говорити відверто» — it’s time for an open talk — was made for FULCRUM and TERGO, two Ukrainian organisations working with families of LGBT people. Six photographs, six stories, all about mothers who chose acceptance over silence.
The prints went up along the escalators of Kyiv’s main metro station, so the women were smiling at everyone riding down. Two weeks later every poster had been destroyed by vandals.
I still want to believe that during those two weeks something shifted in someone going down that escalator, even for a minute.
